Three of his nieces came all the way from South Africa and one from Spain to surprised him. His niece Basia Elliott said, “We just admire his zest for life and his mind is so wonderful”. Her mother passed away 12 years ago who was Jarmoluk’s youngest sister. Elliott got to visit with her sisters Joasia Fish and Haneczka Benz. Her and her mom came to Rimbey in 1983. Not seeing her brother for 41 years. “It was a wonderful reunion,” said Elliott. “We all love him. He is just so, so special.” Jarmoluk still remembers all of their children, spouses, girlfriends and boyfriends from all those years ago. They enjoy speaking Polish with him, reminiscing on their time spent together. Sharing one particular time when Jarmoluk visited Italy. It was Six years ago where Michael went to Italy with his two daughters. A fond memory of a niece’s wedding, where Michael was dancing with his daughters under the Tuscan sun for so long, his daughters had him sit down and take it easy. Everyone gathered for the party few days before he turned 100. His 100th birthday celebration was filled with speeches and entertainment. Jarmoluk was very pleased. saying “I have so many people that helped me feel wonderful. It was a great celebration.” Many people call him from long distances to wish him a happy birthday. Even his old doctor phoned him all the way from New Brunswick. “Everybody just makes me feel more alive and outgoing. I’m feeling great.” (Quote from: Article by Carlie Sanderson/ www.rimbeyreview.com) Most days Jarmoluk enjoys meeting with friends and various people in the community. Often going for coffee and a chat. Still wanting to be involved, and never forgetting his army and comrades from the war. He still belongs to the Lions Club, and goes out to meetings at the Legion. This is where he enjoys meeting the friends and people who still recognize him. Jarmoluk has taken part in the recent poppy campaign, and also sales at various businesses around his town.

Michael Jarmoluk is the only remaining veteran from World War 2 left in the (Rimbey) Legion. He has traveled to many places all over the world during his seven years in the army. Using the word surviving, when describing his greatest highlights and memories from those times. Being taken from Poland by the Russians, and held in a camp in Siberia. He felt grateful for eventually being released. “I’m so glad that they released us and we got to the Middle East and joined the army, and spent seven years to help liberate so many countries. That was gratifying.” (Quote from: Article by Carlie Sanderson/ www.rimbeyreview.com) When his family left from Siberia they were split up. During this time his mother died in the Middle East. His sisters were helped from the Red Cross. They were brought to South Africa, where they grew up. Jarmoluk remembers finally getting reunited with his family. “Now we have their nieces visiting this occasion. That’s amazing. I’m so pleased that people recognize all my involvement in the community and just wishing me the best birthday I’ve ever had.” (Quote from: Article by Carlie Sanderson/ www.rimbeyreview.com) There were many trips around the world he enjoyed over the years. Some of them were the places he’s fought, and others where he’s gone to visit with his family. His daughter Teresa Moench visits with her dad every week or so in Rimbey. He also makes his way to Red Deer often to see his other daughter. Moench has great memories with her dad taking many trips as a family. Going to Italy with him two times, and travelling back to his home country Poland for an amazing visit. Also going with his daughter to Palm Springs many times. He loves playing the game of golf. He got out golfing this spring. Every summer they take him to the Okanagan where family can just spend time enjoying his company. Listening to the great jokes and wonderful stories he has to share. His family is very proud of where he came from and what he has achieved for the family and community. Many people are amazed that he is 100 years old. He is in great shape for his age.
