Join us for the official opening of WAR Flowers, a temporary exhibit by artist Viveka Melki examining human nature in wartime. In addition to viewing this exhibit, visitors will also be treated to a performance of Sons of ’17.
About WAR Flowers:
During the First World War, Canadian soldier George Stephen Cantlie sent flowers from the fields of war-torn Europe home to his daughter in Montréal. Now, artist Viveka Melki has created an immersive, multisensory experience featuring Cantlie’s letters, specially commissioned optical crystal sculptures, and original flower-based scents, interwoven with the personal stories of ten Canadians directly involved in the war.
About Sons of ’17:
An engaging musical theatre experience, Sons of ’17 tells the story of an unlikely pair of musicians who meet in Guelph, Ontario during the spring of 1917 to rehearse songs for soldier recruitment, all while revealing home front emotions, opinions and diversions of the time.
