On July 1, 1918, members of the four Canadian divisions assembled in Tincques, France for the Canadian Corps Championships. A century later, the French historical association “Les Chroniqueurs” will hold a weekend commemorative events and re-creation of Championship events based on the official Dominion Day 1918 Journal. Canadians are encouraged and welcome to attend the following events:
PLAQUE RECOGNIZING CANADIAN PILOTS

A plaque will be dedicated honouring Canadian pilots and, in particular, Canadian Aces Billy Bishop and Ray Collishaw.

Wreaths will be laid in honour of Canadians who came to France who were present in the region in 1918.

The Estracelles Singers will perform First World War songs during a concert at Tincques’ 17th century Church of St. Hilaire.

Saturday’s activities conclude with an evening of short theatrical plays based on 1918 performances, which include the famous theatrical group made up of Canadian soldiers called “The Dumbells”.

Organizers will re-create sporting competitions organized in 1918, including foot races, a Best Clown competition, a presentation by ‘Cirq’en Cavale’ and Lacrosse and football matches.
